Bramhall's annual duck race to return this weekend

It's 'quacking' news for Bramhall as the area gets ready to host a duck race on Sunday 18 May from 11am-4pm.
Hosted at Bramhall Park, and organised by the Bramhall and Woodford Rotary Club, it's one of the biggest non-commercial events in the Stockport area, with thousands of visitors expected.
As well as 12 different duck races, there will also be fairground rides, singers and dance groups, and around 60 market stalls, purveying everything from ice cream to handmade crafts.
In front of Bramall Hall, you'll find the gift shop and Stables cafe, international street food, lots of entertainment on the croquet lawn and, in the Walled Garden, more than 40 local talented makers and traders, hand-picked by Worker Bee Markets to showcase their affordable, quality and unique crafts, gifts and foodie treats.
As for the 12 duck races - there will be five races of one thousand ducks, plus seven giant duck races of elaborately decorated ducks sponsored by local businesses.
And it will all be in aid of a fantastic cause, with proceeds going to the Francis House Children's Hospice.

Lesley Buckley President of Bramhall & Woodford Rotary said: "Our annual Duck Race and Family Fun Day is one of the biggest family festivals on the Bramhall calendar where volunteers from all over the borough come out to help.
"It is humbling and heart warming to see community come together and having Francis House as our main supported charity will resonate with many.
"I had the pleasure of visiting the Hospice on the open day, to say I was impressed would not justify it, what a wonderful place full of hope and caring staff."
This year the sponsors of the Duck Race and Family Fun Day are Leighton Snow Estate Agents and Vernon Building Society. Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council and Strawberry Radio are also supporting the event.
For kids, there's face-painting and photo opportunities next to the Manchester Tardis, who are collecting for Wellspring. You can also meet volunteers from other local charities.
The event takes place at Bramhall Park, Hall Road, Bramhall SK7 3NX on Sunday 18 May, 11am-4pm.
