Police officers were called to a property in Cheadle this morning (Tuesday 8 July) to deal with an unexploded device.

Officers from the bomb disposal squad are attending the scene on Shakespeare Drive.

A 100-metre cordon is in place as officers look to make the area safe, and people are being advised to avoid the area.

A GMP spokesperson said: "At around 8am today we were called to reports of the discovery of an unexploded ordinance device at Shakespeare Drive, Cheadle.

"As a precaution, a 100-metre cordon is in place while Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) attend the scene. Police advise people to avoid the immediate area while specialist officers work to make it safe. Thank you for your cooperation."
