Residents in Marple have voiced their complaints online as bin collections have faced delays.

Information on Stockport Council's website detailed that brown bin collections were missed for 34 streets in Marple at the start of the week. Collection was scheduled for Tuesday 18th August, and then pushed back once more to the next working day.

Locals took to Facebook to call out the continued missed collections as a 'joke', adding that regular services have faced several disruptions over recent weeks.

Councillor Steve Gribbon responded in a community forum on Tuesday evening, on the 'bins again' debacle.

Confirming the SMBC would not be collecting on the day, he said he had spoken to the responsible cabinet member who was "fully aware of the frustrations of residents, not just for the missed collections but also for the bins that have been refused."

Cllr Gribbon said the cabinet member had taken away suggestions he had made, and will be getting back to him ASAP with "workable solutions."

A spokesperson from Stockport Council said operational issues had affected collections on Monday.

Collection lorries were spotted on Railway Road near the tip on Wednesday, leading residents to speculate that their troubles were coming to an end.

Updated information on the council website suggests the missed bins have now been emptied.

This isn't the first time residents have voiced their frustrations over missed bin collections.

The council has faced criticism from residents over the last few weeks as bins were left unemptied in other parts of the borough.

The issue arose as Totally Local Company, the company which provides the council's waste services, directed its workers not to collect bins if the lid is ajar.

The council subsequently deployed crews on catch-up weekend rounds to collect the missed waste, explicitly warning that future bins must be fully flat to be emptied.

If residents have had their collection missed, they can report it via the Stockport Council website at: https://www.stockport.gov.uk/start/report-a-missed-bin-collection
