BBC crews spotted filming new series of Daddy Issues in Stockport town centre

Camera crews have been spotted filming the new series of BBC sitcom Daddy Issues.
Crews were seen in the Underbanks yesterday (Thursday 6 March). The street for the most part remained open to the public but the area outside Rhode Island Coffee was packed with camera equipment.
It comes not long after the first series was hailed as the 'best new sitcom' at the 2024 Comedy.co.uk awards.
The Comedy.co.uk awards are decided entirely by public vote, with a poll comprising tens of thousands of British comedy fans.
The first series of the sitcom followed father and daughter duo Malcolm and Gemma (played by David Morrissey and Aimee Lou Wood) living in Stockport and navigating their relationship.
Gemma is unexpectedly pregnant, and Malcom is living in a "bedsit for divorced men"; as one summary reads: "she needs support at a critical time in a woman's life, he needs help microwaving rice without it exploding."
Series two will pick up where the last one left off - with Gemma going into labour.
The series proved to be BBC Three's most popular comedy since the channel's relaunch, averaging 1.6 million viewers over 28 days.
It was a hit with the critics, as well.
BBC critic Scott Bryan said:
"It is a must watch for me. [...] There are two things that make it special. Firstly, the acting. David Morrissey is great, and plays the hopeless divorced dad very well. Aimee Lou Wood is also superb. There's also Sharon Rooney from My Mad Fat Diary. And it also works because of the writing. It contains so much wit. Every line feels fresh, relatable and gives it a real distinctive style."
While Abby Robinson writes in The Radio Times:
"While Wood's comedic abilities are already firmly established, and on full display here, Morrissey, best known for grittier roles, reveals himself to be something of a hidden gem. [...] There are plenty of funny moments, several of which are laugh-out-loud, courtesy of some well-observed and original writing from Ward, and excellent performances from the supporting cast."
The first series of Daddy Issues is still available on BBC iPlayer.
The BBC has said that further information on series two - including the release date - will be announced in due course.
