Battle of Britain flypast to wow crowds in Stockport as Krazy Races returns
By Alasdair Perry 26th Jun 2026
Stockport Krazy Races is set to return to the town this August, with organisers confirming a spectacular Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flypast as part of 2026's event.
The hugely popular and free soapbox derby races back into Stockport town centre on Sunday 9 August, with 30 teams currently confirmed to take part.
And while homemade soapboxes hurtle down from St Peter's Square to Mersey Square, in the skies an aircraft from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will soar past - while the exact model is yet to be confirmed, it could be a Spitfire, a Dakota, or a Hurricane.
And that's not all - a classic car show will also be taking place at the event, with the Italian Auto Moto Club due to bring a collection of their stunning motors to Stockport's Market Place.
This event is being staged by Krazy Races - who host similar events across the country - in collaboration with Totally Stockport.
So far, 30 teams are confirmed to be taking part.
There are 40 spaces in all, and the deadline for registering is Sunday 12 July.
Danny Scoffin, Head of Brand & Strategic Development for Krazy Races, said: "We're always looking for ways to evolve Krazy Races, and this is a really exciting addition for Stockport. The Italian Auto Moto Club will bring something completely different to the day and adds another level of spectacle for visitors.
"Totally Stockport BID Company set us the challenge of making this year's event even bigger, and we're proud to be delivering that. The classic cars, the racing, the creativity from our teams, and now a special Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flypast will make this an unforgettable day in the town."
Shaun Freeman-Jones, Totally Stockport BID Manager, added: "We ask Krazy Races to bring something new to each event, and they've delivered once again. Seeing such an impressive collection of retro Ferraris and Lamborghinis across Stockport Market will be an incredible sight and a real draw for visitors.
"Adding the flypast will create another memorable moment for everyone attending and help make this one of the biggest and most exciting events the town has seen."
