Poynton residents are being invited to pick up their pencils, paints, cameras or tablets and take part in a community art competition showcasing why they love living there.

Organised by Elan Homes, the competition aims to capture the spirit of Poynton through the eyes of the people who know it best.

Open to all ages and abilities, the competition welcomes artwork in any medium, including drawing, painting, photography, collage and mixed media.

Entrants are encouraged to interpret the theme 'why I love living in Poynton' in their own creative way.

Up to 20 pieces of artwork, selected by a panel of Elan judges, will be exhibited at a view home on the Hazelfield Development.

There are three age categories: children (11 and under); young people (12–17); and adults (18+).

Visitors to the art exhibition will be able to cast their votes for their favourite entries. The winner in each age group will receive a £50 Trafford Centre voucher.

A4 sized submissions can be delivered to Hazelfields on Hazelbadge Road, Monday to Thursday between 10am and 5pm. Entry forms will be available at the development for participants to complete. This will include providing a short caption (max 50 words) explaining the inspiration behind the artwork.

The deadline for artwork to be entered into the competition is March 30, 2026

The exhibition will run from April 3 until May 1, after which the winners will be announced.

Elan regional sales and marketing director Marie Morris said: "This competition is all about celebrating why people love living in Poynton and the pride residents feel for their neighbourhood.

"Whether it's a landmark, a memory, a view or simply the sense of community, we want to see the moments, people and places that make Poynton special."
