A man in his thirties has been arrested on suspicion of assault, after three incidents were reported in the Heald Green area on Wednesday (5 July).

At around 8.40am on that day, officers received a report that a woman had been assaulted close to the Cheadle Royal Business Park.

A short while later, two further reports were received that two people had been assaulted in the nearby Heald Green suburb.

Greater Manchester Police said: "One woman suffered serious injuries, which are not believed at this time to be life-threatening or life-changing. Another woman suffered minor injuries, while the other woman did not suffer any injuries."

Officers attended the scene and arrested the man. He remains in police custody for questioning.

Neighbourhood officers have assured the community that this appears to be an isolated incident, but extra police patrols will remain in the area for the next few days to 'provide extra visibility and reassurance'.

Chief Inspector Andrew Harty, from GMP's Stockport district, said: "This is a concerning incident but I would like to thank our officers for the professionalism and speed in which they responded responded, as they worked quickly to prevent any further harm.

"Our officers are there to provide support and will be more than willing to chat to anyone – your neighbourhood officers are ultimately there to help you.

"As enquiries continue, anyone with information regarding this morning's incident can contact police directly by calling 101 or using the Live Chat service on our website. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

"In particular, I am asking anyone with CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage to please get in touch, as this could greatly assist the investigation."
