Emergency services were called to Hawk Green in Marple this afternoon (Thursday 16 April) following a serious incident.

An air ambulance was called to the scene at Barnsfold Road, along with additional ambulances and police cars.

Romiley & Marple community First Responders said at 1.30pm that they were dealing with a scene near the Hawk Green playing field and that the road nearby would be shut for some time.

They also said that it was quick thinking from one of their team which helped bring about a fast emergency response.

"One of our responders out running this afternoon in Marple came across a serious road traffic collision.

"Quick thinking from him supported the police and sped up the response for the ambulance and helicopter.

"Thanks to the members of public that stopped to help and of course the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust crews along with North West Air Ambulance Charity."
