Adswood Young People's Centre re-opens after essential repairs completed
By Alasdair Perry 3rd Mar 2026
Adswood Young People's Centre has re-opened after a temporary closure.
The centre closed in January 2026, due to a serious building safety issue - however, after essential repairs, the space is now safe to re-open and welcome families.
The works have seen extensive roof repairs and a thorough cleaning of the building.
Autisk - the support group for families with autistic children, which uses the building as a base - is also now able to continue its services.
The following Autisk services will be restarting:
- Play zone family drop in on Saturday 7 March
- Short breaks service on Saturday 7 - Sunday 8 March
- The booking system for the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) sessions will open on Tuesday 10 March
- No School and Teen Hangout on 17 April
In a joint statement, Stockport Council and Autisk said: "We know that the disruption to services since January has been worrying and difficult for families, and we are very sorry for the impact this has had.
"We will continue to keep families informed as plans progress and as more Autisk services resume.
"We are also very grateful to Adswood Primary School and Castle Hill High School for their support while repairs were taking place."
