Protestors have been spreading their message across the local community, calling at Bramhall and Woodford to oppose plans for a new town in nearby Adlington.

The Supporters of the Adlington Green Belt (SOTAG) hit the road on Saturday, March 7, taking their campaign to surrounding towns and villages.

Thousands of leaflets were distributed, with campaigners speaking to residents about the impact the proposed new town of 14,000+ homes in Adlington could have on their day-to-day lives.

Mark Hadfield from SOTAG said: "The roadshow show was a fantastic success!

"With the help of a small army of volunteers at each stop, we distributed 3,000 leaflets and spoke to shoppers and residents about the proposals for Adlington New Town.

"Some people were already aware of the plans but hadn't appreciated the scale or how it would directly affect them.

"Others were completely oblivious, but horrified when they discovered that up to 20,000 houses was being considered on green belt land and the environment and ecological devastation that would cause.

"Some residents in Wilmslow insisted that 'it wasn't a problem for them', until they were told the effect 55,000 extra residents would have on both Macclesfield and Stepping Hill hospitals!

Travelling around in a decorated minibus, campaigners kicked off their roadshow in Bollington at 9.30am on Saturday.

From there, the SOTAG team made their way to Macclesfield, Prestbury, Wilmslow, Woodford and Bramhall.

Now, they are encouraging residents to write letters to MPs and key decision makers, using the writing guidelines available here.
