The junction of A34 and Gatley Road is expected to re-open by Friday 14 November after it was partially closed for repair work.
Gas company Cadent has been repairing a gas leak on the site since 3 November.
The company said that the leak has now been repaired, and that all that remains is to reinstate and resurface the stretch of road.
It will re-open "as soon as it is safe to do so, but no later than Friday", Cadent said.
Trevor Lubbock, Cadent's customer operations manager, said the repair was an 'incredibly challenging job'.

Mr Lubbock added: "I am pleased to say that on Monday night – in difficult weather conditions, and after a weekend of working day and night shifts – my engineers completed a challenging piece of work which has repaired the pipe.
"This has been an incredibly challenging job, at one of the busiest road junctions in the area. I appreciate it has been disruptive and my team has been working as fast as we can to complete this work, which is all to ensure safety."
Once the road has been resurfaced, Cadent still has some work to do on the footpaths of Gatley Road which may mean they have to occupy one lane for periods of time - however, engineers will limit this to off-peak hours.
Mr Lubbock added: "If you smell gas, do not assume it is related to this work. It may not be and needs to be checked. Act immediately and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999, day or night."
