A new ‘community-driven’ micro-pub could be opening in Stockport
Stockport is fast becoming one of Greater Manchester's best spots for independent bars and cafes – and the borough could soon be home to another micro-pub after plans were submitted for a new site in Bredbury.
The aim is to transform the vacant chemist at 242 Stockport Road West into a 'community-driven' bar with an indoor seating area, along with bar stools, rear and front gardens outside, and space for a function room on the first floor for functions and events.
The rear garden will be fitted with benches and seating areas with some roof covering, and the front will also have seating for customers. At the rear will be a cellar and a toilet with a stairway leading to upstairs where there will be a kitchenette, storage area, and a bathroom.
Four staff could run the new pub which would open from 11.30am to 11.30pm six days a week, closing an hour earlier on Sundays.
It is hoped that the new venue would 'revitalise' the area with a 'small scale, low key' bar that acts as a hub for residents without the adverse impacts which can occur when larger pubs open.
The planning application will be considered by Stockport council's planning group ahead of the determination deadline on Friday, December 1.
