WATCH - Remarkable footage shows Stockport in the 1960s and '70s
If you'll allow me to be a little self-indulgent, I thought I'd share a piece of archive footage I stumbled across on YouTube.
It features some Stockport scenes from the '60s and '70s.
Most of the footage is of Heaton Moor - visible are the distinct shopfronts of Heaton Moor road, and the grandiose library building.
However, there are some scenes which frankly require a more eagle-eyed viewer - certainly more so than this doltish editor who can't place all the locations!
The footage was uploaded to YouTube by Kinolibrary - a UK-based agency specialising in archive footage from around the world.
Anyhow, I thought it was interesting - I do know it's not the most pertinent news, but in the spirit of post-Christmas I thought I'd share it all the same!
And if this has whetted your appetite for a local history, we do have a dedicated local history section on the site. Many of the articles have been written by the historians at Stockport Heritage Trust, and are as detailed as you're likely to find when it comes to bygone Stockport!
