Are you thinking about going electric but haven't taken the plunge yet?

Now could be the perfect time at Crewe Volkswagen with Volkswagen's ID. Promise, but what is the ID. Promise we hear you ask?

Whatever body style of car you are looking for, in Volkswagen's electric range, they'll be one for you.

Volkswagen's ID. Promise makes going electric easy, and we are confident you will love it too, and that's why Volkswagen are giving you 100 days to get comfortable and feel-good driving electric!

A consistent figure when it comes to automakers, Volkswagen's electric car range has been a hit ever since its launch with the ID.3 back in 2019, and the ID.3 is included in the brands Promise.

Rolling out the scheme at a time when electric vehicles remain unfamiliar territory for many petrol-car owners. Despite growing interest in EVs, a significant number of buyers are still hesitant, uncertain whether an electric car would fit their lifestyle, charging habits or commuting patterns.

The ID. Promise is Volkswagen's attempt to lower that number by offering a genuine "try before you buy" commitment safety-net. As many people still appear hesitant to break into the electric world and purchase an EV, there are a few reasons why that is the case.

Per Judge Service, a high of 49% of drivers have range anxiety, 47% say there aren't enough charge points, 24% of people don't trust the technology that comes with an electric car, and the same amount just aren't interested in one.

Those stats seem telling; however, there's still a whole host of drivers who already have taken the plunge or are interested in doing so. If you are thinking about your next vehicle, Judge Service also say that 69.23% of new cars come with a diesel powertrain, that still seems the most popular variant to go with but the ID. Promise from Volkswagen gives you that comfortable first step into electric driving.

By allowing customers and potential buyers to trial a full EV for an extended period, Volkswagen acknowledges the practical concerns around everyday electric motoring, charging convenience, real-world range, sustainability for family needs and the general change from a conventional internal-combustion car.

The scheme is a direct response to that uncertainty. A bold move that shows VW is betting many people will stick with an EV once they've experienced it properly.

What it actually entails:

·      Eligible Models – Including the ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, ID.7 and ID.7 Tourer from Volkswagen's ID range.

·      Eligible Buyers – Open for private UK retail customers (18+), whether paying in cash or via finance (such as PCP), but excludes fleet, contract-hire, Motability, ex-demonstrator or used vehicles.

·      Test Period – After delivery, buyers must keep the car for a minimum of 80 days and may return it any time up to 100 days after handover.

·      Return/Refund Terms – If you choose to return the car, Volkswagen will buy it back and give a refund, minus a 'fixed' usage charge.

·      One-time use – Each customer can use the scheme once. Qualifying vehicles must be brand new and not second-hand or previously used.

·      Timing – Promotional period runs from 3rd November 2025 until 31st March 2026.

What the ID. Promise signals:

·      For Hesitant Buyers – Scheme reduces risk of going electric. Instead of buying and hoping for the best, customers can treat the first few months like a long trial – try out home or work charging, test range on daily routes, see if the car meets family needs. If it doesn't work out, they can revert.

·      For Volkswagen's Confidence – By offering a "money-back guarantee," VW makes a strong statement, that they believe enough customers will choose to keep the EV.

·      For Wider EV Adoption – One of the main psychological hurdles to electric-car adoption is uncertainty over range, charging convenience, and sustainability for everyday life. Schemes like ID. Promise may play a vital role in bridging that gap.

The launch of the ID. Promise at Crewe Volkswagen reflects a broad shift in VW's approach, from simply offering EVs to actively helping customers overcome barriers to adoption. Volkswagen understands that discounts or technical specs alone aren't enough, many drivers need reassurance that life with an EV will really work for them.

The scheme is a sign that VW is thinking like both a manufacturer and a mobility consultant, helping customers adapt to a different kind of car ownership. It also shows the brands commitment to its electric range. Here's a bit more information on each model available on the scheme:
