Charlie Higson will appear at Bramhall's Simply Books on 7 October 2025 (Image supplied)

 Bloody treachery? Check.

 Unruly incest? Check.

 Short parliaments? Check.

Charlie Higson has always been interested in the story of the fabled English monarchy: from the b*stardly to the benevolent, brilliant to the brutal.

Join Charlie for a laugh-out-loud evening of regicide, fratricide, patricide, uxoricide and mariticide (you might have to look those last two up). He'll be in conversation with a leading host before taking your questions about our gruesome history of messy monarchs.

Every book + ticket comes with a copy of Willie, Willie, Harry and Stee, which Charlie will sign and dedicate on the night.

About the Book, Willie, Willie, Harry, Stee:

An Epically Short History of Our Kings and Queens

The first non-fiction book from the comedy legend – an irresistible, family-friendly deep dive into the murky lives of the British monarchy Willie, Willie, Harry, Stee, Harry, Dick, John, Harry three.

One, two, three Neds, Richard Two, Henries, four, five, six, then who?

In this wonderful new book, with the famous rhyme he learned at school as his trusty guide, Charlie takes the plunge into the storied history of this most treasured of institutions – introducing readers to every single ruler since poor Harold was shot in the eye at the Battle of Hastings.

A rip-roaring journey that takes in the Normans, Stuarts and Tudors, not to mention the infamous Blois (how can we forget them?), Willie, Willie, Harry, Stee is an utterly engrossing and grossly entertaining primer on who ruled when and why.

About the author, Charlie Higson:

Charlie Higson is an actor, author and comedian. With Paul Whitehouse he co-created, co-wrote and acted in The Fast Show, before finding literary success with his bestselling series of Young Bond novels and The Enemy series (both published by Penguin/Puffin).

In 2023, he launched his top-rated history podcast, Willy Willy Harry Stee, to coincide with the coronation of King Charles III. To date, there have been over 125 episodes.
