Dear readers,

I'd like to take the opportunity to wish you all a very merry Christmas, and to thank you very much for reading this year.

This year marks almost two years since Stockport Nub News was established - and it's been a pretty important time for us.

We've covered a general election, a visit from the PM, Metrolink plans, some glamorous filming in the town centre, plus a wealth of new business openings. And we've welcomed tens of thousands of readers along the way.

Every view, click, share and so forth helps greatly, and allows us to keep producing our news, so thank you as ever.

Naturally, we're a local newspaper, and so in an effort to remain 'on brand' I'd like to give a virtual toast with a special emphasis on Stockport.

More specifically, a toast to all of our connections, however tenuous, to this humble little corner of the world.

Wherever you are in the borough or indeed the world at current, we all have some experience of Stockport. Perhaps a shared memory of a particular street; a similar experience of a big event; or a distinctly local inside joke.

In that sense, we all have something quite peculiar in common. And given the scale of the universe, I'd argue that counts for quite a bit!

Anyhow, philosophising aside, Merry Christmas and all the best for the new year.

Thanks for reading.

Alasdair
