Inquest opening after body found by canal near Marple Aqueduct

An inquest is opening at South Manchester Coroner's Court after a body was found by the canal at Marple Aqueduct.
The body - since identified as that of 52-year-old Tina Burgess - was found on Friday 22 August on the grass by the canal.
Police were called to the area following reports of a 'concern for welfare'.
The canal towpath was taped off as emergency services attended the scene, and members of the public were advised to avoid the area.
Police said that enquiries are ongoing.
South Manchester Coroner's Court confirmed today (Friday 29 August) that the death had been referred to their office, MEN reports.
