There is lots to do in and around Stockport this weekend!

Those looking for a spooky start to the weekend will enjoy Flecky Bennett's Haunted Stockport tour. Or, if you're looking for something less chilling, the Garrick will run one of its monthly comedy nights on the same evening.

On Saturday, the Mind Body and Spirit event will take place at Stockport Guild Hall, whilst elsewhere, an afternoon concert from Amaretti Chamber Orchestra will take place at St Andrew's Church, Cheadle.

The Mind Body and Spirit event will continue on Sunday. Elsewhere, taking place in the evening at The Railway, Wellington Road, is a performance from the Eddie Gripper Trio, a must for local jazz fans.

We all love weird, wonderful and ghostly stories!

And when the stories are based upon well-documented accounts, witness statements and Flecky's own personal experiences, they then take on a new life (and death) of their own.

Welcome to the weird, wonderful and ghostly world of Flecky Bennett - described as Horrible Histories for Adults!

Allow Flecky to welcome you onto his Stockport Ghost Walk, a firm favourite with locals, tourists and weirdos since 2018, and winner of a 2022 Made in Stockport Award.

A description for the band reads: "The Eddie Gripper Trio are swiftly rising to prominence as an in-demand, vibrant and enthralling jazz band and one of the most engaging live acts on the international scene.

"Hailing from Oxford and now based in Cardiff, pianist, composer and educator Eddie Gripper released his debut album 'Home' on the prestigious Ubuntu Records label in March 2023.

"Delightfully minimalist improvisation brings to life the stories behind each of his thoughtful compositions. At a very young age, Eddie Gripper has proved an incredible prowess on his instrument of choice, clearly demonstrating an innate talent that would often take a lifetime to achieve.

"This is very much evident on Eddie's debut album Home, a captivating body of work that perfectly showcases the young pianist's expertise in an exquisite light. Complimenting Eddie Gripper's phenomenal skills on the piano are the exceptionally creative musicians Ursula Harrison on bass and Patrick Barrett-Donlon on drums.

"The result is a vibrant and exciting ensemble who understand each other so well that the synergy between them is palpable - undoubtedly an impressive spectacle to witness at their forthcoming performance.

"Eddie Gripper and his trio have performed at a wide range of leading international music venues and festivals, With a plethora of accolades from critics and gig goers alike, this is undoubtedly a live show not to be missed!"
