Mistrust live at HMV | HMV Merseyway | Saturday 17 June | 2pm

Local musician Tim Blackburn, who records under the name "Mistrust", will be performing songs from his new album "Sunlight" live in store at HMV in Merseyway, Stockport, on Saturday 17th June, 2023, at 2pm.

Following his recent performance at HMV in Bury, the artist will be playing songs inspired by his love of early 1980s electronic pop music by artists such as OMD, The Human League, Depeche Mode and Pet Shop Boys, all with a modern take.

Tim will be signing copies of his new album "Sunlight" which will be available to buy in store on limited edition compact disc, along with his recent four-track EP "Yellow and Grey". Entry is free and everyone is welcome!

The press said the following:

  • Yellow and Grey: "Effortlessly melodic with a simple but great hook. Synth Pop that will put a smile in your heart." (Neil March / Trust the Doc)
  • Yellow and Grey: "impressive work by Blackburn and his project Mistrust. I highly recommend checking it out if you're a person who enjoys catchy music with a throwback feel." Rob Benny

Funtopia | Woodbank Memorial Park | Sunday 18 June | 10.30am

Food and activities are all available at this fun event for children.

A description on the site reads: "Our fun-filled festival - designed especially for under 10's, is filled with all the fun and games your family could want to make this exciting day out one to be remembered! Funtopia has high energy inflatables, role play areas, shows and competitions, character meet and greets, giant games, huge water fights, a tasty food court and more!

"We even have an incredible Under-fives area for our mini guests, filled with Bouncy Castles, Soft Play, Ball Pool, Ride On's and other fun toys and games.

"This year every Funtopia will have an exclusive Autism Friendly Session at the start of every day! Especially for children who may struggle to attend a general Funtopia event.

"With limited numbers, no music, sensory games and activities, our Autism Friendly Session is perfect for children not only with autism, but those with SEND as well. Siblings are also welcome!"

The autism-friendly session runs from 10.30-11.30am. The event as a whole runs until 5.30pm.

35th Stockport Beer and Cider Festival | Masonic Guildhall | Thursday 22 to Saturday 24 June | 5.30pm

Stockport Beer & Cider Festival will soon make a triumphant return to the Masonic Guildhall in the town centre.

After a couple of years at Edgeley Park, the festival will return to the Guildhall, this time spreading across two floors and the car park.

It is no surprise that the main pull of the festival is its huge selection of national and international beers, as well as ciders.

As a statement on the festival website states: "Across two floors of the Guildhall, we have a dazzling selection of cask beers from around the country with quite a number of new breweries exhibiting each year along with a few great old favourites.

"On the ground floor we have a beer in bottle and can bar selling not only British beers but also a choice of exotic continental ones as well. [...]

"[And] there is no better place to become a cider and perry devotee than at the Stockport Beer and Cider Festival. The Cider and Perry bar can be found on the ground floor at Guildhall."
