Spring might not have sprung just yet, but it may not be far away.

That's according to meteorologists who suggest that milder conditions from the Atlantic could be heading to the North from this weekend.

With brighter and sunnier spells forecast between bands of rain, it will start to feel slightly more like spring.

However, the milder weather could bring more 'instability', with light rain forecast on Friday 21 February, and showers on Sunday 23rd.

Whether or not the whether will continue to get warm over the next few days is 'uncertain', the Met Office said.

The Mirror reports that the beginning of March will see a storm dubbed 'the Beast from Europe', which will batter the southern parts of the country from 3 March, before heading North to Stockport and beyond the following day (Tuesday 4th).

Similarly, a storm map - which has been modelled by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMRWF) - suggests there could even be snowfall around 4 March across the UK.

However, rain is still forecast on other platforms such as BBC Weather for these days. And in any case, the Met Office said that the forecast for early March was 'uncertain'.

"It is possible that further spells of mild, wet and windy weather affect the UK, interspersed with cooler, showery conditions", the agency said.

"But there is also a chance that drier, more settled conditions develop, especially towards the south of the UK. Temperatures are likely to be close to or a little above average overall, although should drier, more settled conditions develop, then nights may become colder with a risk of frost."
