Unsafe building fenced off in Stockport town centre

An 'unsafe' building has been cordoned off on Lower Hillgate.
A protective area has been put up around a corner of the former Stockport Community & Voluntary services building, after an upper floor was found to be protruding and bowed outward.
Emergency services - including police and fire crews - attended the scene on Saturday 2 August and made the area safe. Building inspectors also visited the site.
In all, crews were at the scene for around two and a half hours.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "At just before 2pm on Saturday 2 August, a fire engine from Stockport was called to Lower Hillgate, to reports of an unsafe building.
"Crews assisted colleagues from Greater Manchester Police and the building inspector to make the area safe by putting a cordon in place. They were on the scene for approximately two and a half hours."
The spot remains cordoned off.
