Trains disrupted due to issue at Stockport station

Expect delays on services to, from and through Stockport railway station this morning (Friday 11 October), due to an issue with the overhead wires (Image - Stockport Council)

Trains passing through Stockport railway station are delayed this morning (Friday 11 October), with many services affected.

The delays are due to damage to overhead wires at Stockport station.

Trains may be cancelled or delayed by up to 30 minutes.

Disruption is expected until around 12.15pm.

Rail operators have given the following updates:

  • Avanti West Coast: Macclesfield and Stockport will not be served - services may be diverted via Styal.
  • Northern: All stations between Levenshulme and Handforth will not be served - services may be diverted via Styal.
  • TransPennine Express: A spokesperson said: "You can use your ticket at no extra cost on East Midlands Railway services between Liverpool Lime Street and Sheffield in both directions".

Passengers are advised to check before they travel.

You may also be entitled to compensation if you experience delays when travelling today.
