Stockport is pretty spoiled for choice when it comes to eateries. 

Looking for spots to try can therefore feel a bit daunting - but the following 10 are a great place to start.

The list is drawn from TripAdvisor's 'restaurants in Stockport' search results, sorted by 'highest rated'. The ratings are based on user reviews.

10 - Shaam Lebanese restaurant (Bramhall)

At number ten is the Shaam Lebanese restaurant in Bramhall. Specialising in the rich, healthy and hearty food of Lebanon, this restaurant boasts 4.5 stars on both TripAdvisor and Google Reviews. 

Visitors praised the 'outstanding cuisine', and 'warm, excellent service'. 

As Shaam's website reads: "In Lebanese culture, food is a celebration of life; endless varieties and magical tastes. 

"Healthy and naturally prepared, it all comes together at meal time, the time for a family get-together and the time for friends to catch up."

Shaam is based at 1 Woodford Road, and is open everyday from 12-10.30pm.

Number nine's entry comes from the Heatons. This cosy bar and restaurant offers everything from hearty breakfasts through to flavoursome Mediterranean specialties. 

It boasts a five-star rating on TripAdvisor, and 4.7 stars on Google Reviews.

This Castle Street favourite makes the number eight spot. Offering 'family-style Indian dishes in a vibrant setting', this restaurant has been praised across the board for its cosy atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food. 

It has a five-star rating on TripAdvisor, and 4.8 stars on Google Reviews. 

It's open from 5pm until midnight, seven days a week.

7 - Little Lanka (Stockport town centre / Davenport)

Sri Lankan cuisine is served in style at this little gem just outside Stockport town centre. Little Lanka specialises in the light, fragrant dishes of Sri Lanka, and is praised for its 'excellent' food and its wide-ranging vegan menu.

It has a five-star rating on TripAdvisor, and a 4.6 star rating on Google Reviews.

A description reads: "Far from Sri Lankan Shores, a traditional taste is hard to come by. Here at Little Lanka, we provide a mouthwatering dining experience with a little bit of culture, a little bit of spice and loads of fun."

This traditional country pub is based in Greave, Romiley, close to Werneth Low.

At the prestigious second spot is Bombay to Mumbai - which also happens to be the third entry from Bramhall.

TripAdvisor's number one is Laco, the cafe and bistro based in Stockport's Underbanks.

Laco serves hot and cold drinks, pastries and cakes, brunch, soups, sandwiches, and more.

The bistro has also just undergone a makeover - "After a refreshing makeover, we're bringing you the cosy atmosphere, exceptional service and delicious flavours you've always loved", the owners said.

As well as its five-star TripAdvisor review, it boasts a near-perfect 4.8 stars on Google Reviews.

It sits at 32 Little Underbank.
