A Stockport native took on a massive cycling challenge to Blackpool on Saturday (2 November) - for the fourth time.

Jack Pritchard, 28, has been cycling this 60-mile challenge since 2021, raising money for The Christie cancer centre each time.

It was Jack's cousin - Joanne - who first inspired him to ride. She was sadly diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of adrenal cancer and was treated at The Christie hospital in Manchester.

Joanne sadly passed away in 2021, and Jack has been cycling in her memory ever since.

"Joanne left behind a husband Mark, with two children, Cameron aged 15 and Lexi aged nine", Jack said. "She was an amazing person, so by continuing the fundraising in her name it does give everyone something to hold on to.

"I have always enjoyed sport and cycling, but I would say since first signing up for the bike ride in 2021 that is where my passion really grew for it."

Jack set out from Manchester on Saturday 2nd November with support from his girlfriend's dad, Shaun. The second leg took place the following day, with support from his girlfriend Charlotte, and his mum, Clare.

I'll be doing the first leg on Saturday 2nd November with my girlfriend Charlotte's dad, Shaun and then the second leg on Sunday 3rd with Charlotte, plus my mum Clare, who will finish the last 20km.

"It's inspiring to see people like Jack making such a difference", said Josh Hughff, mass participation officer at The Christie Charity. "The dedication of supporters like him helps fund vital work and we're incredibly grateful for his ongoing commitment to The Christie Charity."

Jack's fundraiser is still active - so far he's raised almost £5,000.
