The remembrance events taking place in Stockport this Sunday

There are a wide range of Remembrance Sunday ceremonies taking place across Stockport on 9 November.

A borough-wide service will be taking place at the War Memorial Art Gallery, with Mayor of Stockport Cllr Kerry Waters leading a two-minute silence from 11am.

The War Memorial Gallery itself will be open from 9.30am, with its remembrance room open for visitors to pay respects.

The stretch of A6 around the gallery will be closed temporarily while the service takes place.

In addition to this, there are lots of other Remembrance Sunday events taking place in other locations across the borough.

Here is a full list of what to expect:

Stockport town centre

From 10.25am, a procession of service, ex-service and civilian units will set out from the Armoury to the War Memorial Gallery.

Meanwhile, from 10.45am, there will be a civic procession from Stockport Town Hall to the Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery.

Then, at 11am, there will be a two-minute silence and Civic Act of Remembrance (including the laying of wreaths).

Bramhall

A procession will set off at 10.40am from Holland Road to Bramhall War Memorial.

Then, at 11am, there will be a service at the War Memorial, then a procession to St Michael and All Angels Parish Church via Bramhall Lane South and Robins Lane.

Bredbury

A service will be taking place at 3pm at the War Memorial on George Lane.

Cheadle

A parade will assemble at 10.30am at the junction of Massie Street with High Street, and will then proceed down High Street to the War Memorial.

A service will take place at the War Memorial from 10.50am.

Cheadle Hulme

From 9.40am, a parade will meet at Beech Road before departing for the war memorial at 9.55am.

There will then be a service at the war memorial at 10am.

Compstall

Residents are invited to assemble at 10.50am at Compstall War Memorial, for Remembrance, prayers and laying of wreaths.

There will then be a Remembrance Service at St. Paul's Church.

Gatley

10.50am – arrival at War Memorial, Gatley Green.

10.55am – Act of Remembrance and Laying of Wreaths at War Memorial, Gatley Green.

Hazel Grove

10.30am – parade commences from Hazel Grove train station.

10.45am - service and laying of wreaths at War Memorial, London Road.

Heald Green

12pm - service and laying of wreaths at Heald Green and Long Lane War Memorial, Wilmslow Road.

Heaton Mersey

10.45am - service at St John's Church, St John's Road.

11am - Act of Remembrance at War Memorial.

Heaton Moor

10.45am - service at St Paul's Church, St Paul's Road.

11am - Act of Remembrance at War Memorial.

Heaton Norris

10.30am – service at Christ with All Saints Church, Heaton Norris.

High Lane

10am - Service of Remembrance at St. Thomas's Parish Church.

11am - Act of Remembrance and laying of wreaths at the War Memorial.

Marple

10.15am - Standard Bearers and the public to assemble at the War Memorial in Memorial Park.

10.30am - service and the laying of wreaths at the War Memorial.

Mellor

12.15pm – service and the laying of wreaths at the War Memorial.

Reddish

10.30am - church service at St. Mary's Church.

12.50pm - service at the Cenotaph on Reddish Road, South Reddish.

1pm - service proceeds to Willow Grove Cemetery.

1.10pm - service at Cross of Sacrifice.

Romiley

2.30pm - assemble at Green Lane next to the Duke of York public house. 2.45pm - prayers at Romiley War Memorial and the laying of wreaths. 2.55pm - parade from Romiley War Memorial to the War Memorial, George Lane, Bredbury.

3pm - service commences.

Woodford

10.45am - service and the laying of wreaths at Christ Church, Chester Road, Woodford.
