A 15-year-old male was taken into custody by Stockport's Neighbourhood Team after eggs were thrown at a police car and officers were 'verbally abused'.

The teen was arrested in Brinnington and has been charged with criminal damage, attempted criminal damage, and a public order offence.

He was bailed to appear in court in 1 August.

It comes not longer after a 48 hour dispersal order was put in place in Brinnington, following a series of incidents of anti-social behaviour involving groups of youths at the beginning of the week.

The dispersal order provided the police with extra powers to break up groups of two or more people, where they believe their behaviour is causing a nuisance, harassment or distress.

It lasted from Monday 26 June to Wednesday 28 June at 6.40pm.

Inspector John Picton of Greater Manchester Police's Stockport Neighbourhood Policing team said: "GMP won't tolerate anti-social behaviour and will always take decisive action, which is why we made an arrest and put a dispersal order in place.

"On Monday we received numerous calls including youths firing gel pellets at pedestrians and vehicles.

"One vehicle sustained damage to its windows, and there were reports of a disturbance in the street.

"A high-visibility police presence was maintained in the area throughout the duration of the dispersal order, and any further reports of ASB were dealt with immediately.

"Enquiries are ongoing to identify those involved in the ASB and to ascertain where the gel pellets and equipment were purchased."
