Romiley's Forum Theatre to receive £300,000 of urgent repairs for re-opening 'as soon as possible'

Funds have been secured to complete 'urgent repairs' on Romiley's Forum Theatre, so the building can re-open 'as soon as possible'. 

Stockport Council will provide £300,000 for repair work on reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) found in the building. 

The theatre closed in 2023, following a change in government guidance around RAAC in August. NK Theatre Arts, the occupier of the building, has been forced to reduce its services as a result.

Bramhall High set for rebuild to ‘permanently remove RAAC’

Bramhall High School is set for a rebuild to 'permanently remove RAAC' (reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete). 

The UK Government today confirmed funding for 234 schools across the country for rebuilding projects to remove RAAC, one of which was Bramhall High.

As yet, it is unclear whether the rebuilding will constitute just the affected areas, or a new school entirely.

Joseph James furniture outlet opens in former Debenhams building

Joseph James Furniture Outlet opened for the first time today (3 February) in the former Debenhams store.

The outlet stocks a range of branded furniture at discounted rates. 

The store is the second outlet in Manchester, an expansion from the company's current base in Stretford.

It will be open 11am - 7pm Monday to Thursday and 10am - 5pm Friday to Sunday.
