New 16-storey apartment block could be built at 'gateway to Stockport

A planning application has been submitted for a new 16-storey apartment building in Stockport.

If approved, it could create up to 76 new homes in the town centre made up of one and two-bedroom apartments above two floors of working space.

The developer – Provincial Land – plans to demolish the George pub on the corner of Wellington Road North and Heaton Lane, which has been empty since 2017.

Former Debenhams building to become discounted furniture store

The former Debenhams building in Stockport town centre is set to become a furniture store. 

Joseph James Furniture Outlet will open on Saturday 3 February, and will stock a range of branded furniture at discounted rates. 

The store will be the second outlet in Manchester, an expansion from the company's current base in Stretford.

It will be open 11am - 7pm Monday to Thursday and 10am - 5pm Friday to Sunday, and will stock a huge range of furniture.

New bubble tea shop to open in Edgeley

A new bubble tea shop is set to open in Edgeley.

Pearl-T will open at 85a Castle Street, having already opened two stores in Macclesfield and Timperley.

The new store will sell a similarly wide and delicious range of drinks to its other sites, including chocolate caramel milk tea, green apple fruit tea, watermelon tea, and more.
