Stockport's Robinsons brewery wins big at 2026 International Brewing Awards
By Alasdair Perry 26th Mar 2026
Stockport's very own Robinsons Brewery has won big at the 2026 International Brewing Awards.
The brewer, which has been based in Stockport since the 19th century, won two gold medals for its Helles and Old Tom drinks.
Helles picked up gold in the Keg Lager Class 2 category - it's a German-style pale lager with a light bitterness and citrus notes.
The classic Old Tom also won gold, this time in the Class 3 Dark category. This dark ale was first brewed in 1899 and already has a strong precedent for awards.
The international brewing awards are held every two years, with entries judged by a panel of 30 practicing brewers.
All gold medallists are entered into an overall winner contest, which will be announced on 20 May.
Richard Edwards, head brewer at Robinsons, said he was 'proud' to see both beers recognised at such a respected international competition.
