Stockport’s musical history to be celebrated in ‘unique’ live show
Stockport Plaza will soon show a 'unique' live concert celebrating Stockport's long and storied musical history.
The show will feature a number of local artists playing a range of songs, all of which will have some connection with Stockport.
The audience can certainly expect some Blossoms songs in the set list, for example, but there will also be tunes from The Beatles, 10cc, Joy Division, The Hollies, and more.
Certainly, as well as celebrating 'home-grown' talent, the show will showcase the hugely impressive legacy of Strawberry Studios, the Stockport recording studio which has hosted a dizzying number of big names.
This legendary studio was founded in 1968, and is as charming as it is iconic. Founder Eric Stewart described what it was like in the early years: "It was a very tiny studio with some stereo equipment and the walls lined with egg boxes to provide sound insulation.
"There was a makeshift sort of control desk tied together with sellotape and string, but it was good enough for what I wanted to do, and it was the only studio near Manchester."
The show will take place on Thursday 14 September at 7.30pm. British Drum Company - the Stockport-based international drum business - will lend assistance, as will Seven Miles Out Records and Stockport Music Map.
Stockport Plaza said of the event: "If you love Stockport and its music legacy, this is a night not to be missed!".
