Stockport's most impressive young people will be honoured and celebrated at an upcoming awards ceremony.

Nominations are now open for the Stockport Youth Awards, which aims to champion people aged up to 25 who deserve recognition.

There are 10 different categories, designed to cover a range of fields where outstanding youngsters have made contributions.

Organised by Pursuing Individual Excellence (PIE) - the local education enterprise - the awards are due to take place at Stockport Masonic Guildhall on Friday 16 January 2026.

To nominate a young person, simply choose a category, name a young person and their age, and explain briefly why you are nominating them.

The nomination categories are as follows:

• Community champion
• Inspirational young person of the year
• Youth project of the year
• Young carer of the year
• Sportsperson of the year
• Future change-maker award
• Creative spark award
• Music and performance award
• Outstanding compassion award
• Emerging leader award

A PIE spokesperson said: "We're so excited to announce that the Stockport Youth Awards will return on Friday 16th January at Stockport Masonic Guildhall, celebrating the achievements, strengths and talents of young people across Stockport!

"The evening will feature 10 award categories, entertainment, and a celebration of the incredible contributions that young people make in their schools, communities and beyond.

"We're now calling on schools, youth groups, and community organisations to get involved and nominate young people aged up to 25 who deserve recognition."
