Stockport's Town of Culture programme continues in earnest with a new series of musical events set to rock the town centre (in a chilled, respectful kind of way, that is).

Stockport Council has announced that St Mary's Church in Stockport town centre will host a series of live music acts over the coming months, beginning with local band Sea Fever.

This first gig will take place this Friday (26 January), with doors opening at 7pm. Find tickets HERE

The performances look likely to be an atmospheric and unique use of the worship space - Stockport's answer to MTV Unplugged, if you will.

Councillor Frankie Singleton, Cabinet Member for Communities, Culture & Sport at Stockport Council, said: "Stockport has such a rich musical history and it's great that as we celebrate being Greater Manchester's Town of Cultures [...] our activities showcase not only what we have to offer now - by bringing new music to the borough and giving a platform to the next generation of Stockport stars of the future - but also the best of the past."

Also in the pipeline is a series of musical workshop events set to be announced soon, and a weekend of music from 22-24 March.
