Stockport can look forward to a splash of colour as special Town of Culture banners are hung around the town centre.

The eight 'feel good' banners, designed by some of Stockport's talented young residents, were made with a view to 'spreading kindness' throughout the area.

They will be hung throughout the town centre over the coming weeks, with specific locations to be revealed in time.

Funded with Town of Culture grants, the project saw 48 young people aged between six and 25 use old tablecloths, acrylic paints and squeegees to create artworks bursting with colour.

For inspiration, the young artists were asked to think about things they would say to a friend going through a tough time.

Councillor Frankie Singleton, Cabinet Member for Cabinet Member for Communities, Culture & Sport, said: "Arts is such a powerful vehicle to help people to communicate their inner feelings.

"It's wonderful to see such a fantastic project come to fruition which is spreading joy and kindness throughout the borough as part of our Town of Culture activities."
