The Post Office in Stockport town centre will be relocating to TGJones on 30 October.

The new location at TGJones - formerly WHSmith - will be a short stroll from where the Post Office is currently based at 36 Great Underbank.

However, the current location in Great Underbank will remain open until Tuesday 11 November at 3pm - it means that both branches will be open for a short period to assist with the initial set-up of the new branch.

In this interim period there will be reduced service at the TGJones Post Office, with normal service continuing at the current Post Office.

Once it's operating in full, the new office will be open from Monday to Saturday, for around 46.5 hours per week.

The opening times will be 9am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday, and 9am-1pm on Saturdays.

TGJones, which separated from WHSmith in June, will be running the new office.

It will be based on the first floor of the store, within a dedicated area to the rear right-hand side.

There will be two open plan serving positions. Two self-service machines will be available at a later date, however in the interim, an additional temporary serving counter will be provided. 

A Post Office spokesperson explained the move was part of integrating to a 'fully franchised network'.

Over 99 percent of the Post Office network is already operated on a franchise basis by carefully selected retail partners.

A Post Office spokesperson said: "We are confident this would create a long-term, sustainable future for post offices in communities across the UK, including Stockport."
