Stockport will host an unusual conference this weekend - or, as it has been described, an 'unconference'.

DigiCamp Stockport will take place at the Cornerstone building on Friday 26 April from 9.30am-4.30pm. It is centred around the idea of allowing attendees to determine the agenda, as opposed to keynote speakers.

Time will be allocated throughout the day for 'conferences' which the attendees themselves will devise host.

Visitors can either come with an idea themselves, think of something on the spot, or simply see what others at the event have got to offer.

There is plenty of time allocated throughout the day for sessions to take place, and these really can be about anything and everything.

Whether you want to prepare a talk, host a seminar, or simply have a chat, the floor is yours if you want it. The only rule is the 30-minute time limit for each session.

Things are just as easy-going for those just looking to observe, too; attendees are encouraged to move between the various sessions as much as they like.

As a DigiCamp organiser says: "The concept of an unconference came about when people realised that the conversations happening outside of scheduled talks, between attendees themselves, were more interesting than what the 'expert' speakers were saying on stage.

"An unconference takes everything mundane about a traditional conference and turns it on its head. DigiCamp Stockport promises to put the fun back into conferences, cultivate new connections and spark groundbreaking ideas."

Admission is free, but requires a £3 booking fee which can be returned once you have attended the event.
