Stockport is hosting its very own 10k run this summer, with an exciting route running from Edgeley to Bramhall and back again.

Taking place on Sunday 19 July, the race is open to runners of all abilities, and takes a flat circuit the borough.

Starting outside Edgeley Park on Hardcastle Road, runners will head through Shaw Heath, Cale Green, Davenport, Bramhall, Cheadle Heath, before finishing up with a memorable lap of Edgeley Park.

A number of roads will be closed on the day - see the run's dedicated website for a full route.

The run is being organised by RunThrough, in partnership with Vitality.

Runners can nominate a charity when taking part, with participants who aren't sure invited to run in support of Stockport County Community Trust.

Entry costs £34, with every participant receiving an exclusive Vitality Stockport 10K finisher's medal and complimentary race photography.

Rob Sullivan, director of operations at RunThrough, said: "RunThrough is proud to be working alongside Vitality and Stockport County Community Trust to deliver this exciting new event for the local community.

"The event is set to be a fantastic occasion for participants and spectators alike. We're looking forward to welcoming runners, supporters and volunteers and helping to create a special day."

Eddie Owen, head of health and wellbeing at Stockport County Community Trust, added: "We're delighted to be supporting this new community 10K and bringing people together at Edgeley Park for what promises to be a fantastic event.

"This is a fantastic opportunity to get active, support an important cause and be part of something that will have a lasting impact on our local community.

"Every entry will help us continue delivering our free health projects and move us closer to our goal of funding a brand-new health initiative for an entire year.

"We can't wait to welcome runners, supporters and families to Edgeley Park in July."
