With the Tour de France Femmes set to pass through the borough on July 31 next year, Grand Départ GB has launched a competition offering local students the chance to see their work showcased on a global stage.

Creative students in Stockport are being invited to design official posters for the 2027 Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift as part of a nationwide competition linked to the historic Grand Départ in Britain.

The winning posters will become part of the identity of the races and will be used across promotional campaigns, digital platforms and roadside displays during the events.

The two winning students will also travel to Paris in October 2026 for the official unveiling of their posters and will also receive hospitality access at one of the British stages in 2027.

Paul Richards, Deputy Chief Executive at Stockport Council, described the initiative as "a fantastic opportunity for students to advance their creative careers while showcasing the amazing talent" in Stockport.

This grand opportunity is for the further and higher education students studying art, design, graphics, photography and other creative courses in Stockport.

"Being part of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift is something truly special for our borough, and this competition gives local young people the chance to be directly involved in a world famous event, celebrate a historic moment for Stockport and help create an iconic piece of artwork that leaves a lasting legacy across our communities and on the world stage", Paul Richards said.

The competition forms part of JOY, the Grand Départ GB 2027 social impact programme, which aims to encourage creativity and community involvement ahead of the races coming to Britain.

An expert judging panel led by award-winning artist Lucy Pittaway will shortlist entries before final designs are selected by race organisers ASO.

Lucy Pittaway said: "Art has a wonderful power to capture the energy and emotion of these iconic races. Supporting students as they interpret such a historic moment for cycling across Britain is incredibly exciting."

How to enter

The competition opened on Monday 4 May and closes at 5pm on Friday 26 June 2026.

Full details, including terms and conditions, are available here.
