An independent Stockport business is preparing to celebrate its first anniversary after a successful year in business.

SJS Smith Jewellery relocated to 20 Little Underbank last year, and officially opened on 2 September. Since then, the site has become a 'beacon of creativity', providing a spot not just to buy and appreciate quality handmade jewellery, but also to learn to make it yourself.

The business was founded by Sam Smith - herself an experienced silversmith - as both a boutique shop and a teaching space.

Since opening, Sam's business has hosted a huge range of workshops, and has even served as a space for other local artists to exhibit their own works. As Sam said, it has helped to "further enrich the cultural tapestry of the community".

Sam has also led bespoke wedding ring workshops, allowing local couples to design and create their own wholly unique pieces.

She prides herself on fostering a sense not just of quality, but also of creativity - in particular, she emphasises the importance of offering a place to help nurture talented local artists.

"We are thrilled to mark our first year in Little Underbank and express our heartfelt gratitude to the community for their unwavering support", Sam said.

"Our journey thus far has been nothing short of remarkable, and we look forward to many more years of creativity, connection, and celebration with our wonderful patrons."

To celebrate this special anniversary, Sam is hosting a series of open days near the end of the month. These will take place on Friday 30 August (from 6pm) Saturday 31 August, and Sunday 1 September (both from 1.30-3.30pm).

Guests will have the opportunity to explore the studio, browse the 'stunning' jewellery collections, win prizes and discover the wealth of artistic talent showcased within the shop.

As Sam said: "The anniversary open days promise to be an unforgettable celebration of art, community, and the enduring spirit of creativity."
