Stockport MP supports Andy Burnham's bid to become next prime minister

Stockport MP Navendu Mishra supported Andy Burnham's bid to become the next prime minister.
Mr Mishra was one of the 322 Labour MPs supporting the former Greater Manchester to replace Keir Starmer.
Mr Burnham is now overwhelmingly likely to become the next prime minister - he just needs the support of one more MP for it to be mathematically impossible for any other Labour candidates to throw their hat into the ring for the leadership.
If nobody else enters the leadership contest, as expected, Mr Burnham will be declared the next prime minister on Monday 20 July.
Explaining his support for Mr Burnham, Mr Mishra said: "Andy has served as Mayor of Greater Manchester and delivered tangible improvements for the people of Stockport, including publicly controlled bus services through the Bee Network, town centre regeneration, and attracting economic investment across our city region, among many other achievements.
"I hope he will be our Prime Minister on Monday 20 July.
"The nomination process will run for several days, after which there will be a special conference to announce the new Leader on Friday 17 July. That person is then likely to be asked by His Majesty the King to form a government on Monday 20 July."
