Stockport Jobs Match - a job-finding site set up by Stockport Council and Grassroots Recruitment - is set to close down on 31 December 2023.

The contract between the council and Jobs Match ends on this date, and will not be renewed. It comes as the council looks to make savings for its 2024/25 budget.

A statement on the Jobs Match website reads: "Given the provision of similar resources in Greater Manchester for employers [and] jobseekers, to continue the Stockport Jobs Match contract would not be demonstrating the best use of the council's resources, particularly at a time when we need to address the many priorities for our citizens and businesses."

What the closure will look like:

  • From 1 January 2024, all active job and course listings will be removed, and the site will not accept new registrations. Any applications currently in progress will be dealt with between the applicant and the employer directly, rather than through Jobs Match.
  • Site users will still be able to download their CVs, cover letters, and any additional documents until 31 March 2024.
  • Personal data from users will be stored on Jobs Match's secure servers until 31 December 2024, after which they will be deleted.
