Stockport homeless charity to host fundraising community sleepout

A Stockport-based charity is hosting a 'sleepout' to raise money and awareness for homelessness.
Organised by The Wellspring, it will give participants the chance to sleep outside and get a small glimpse of the challenges faced by those without a home.
Local residents are invited to take part in the sleepout, which is taking place on Saturday 4th October 2025.
The Wellspring, based on Harvey Street, offers support for homeless and vulnerable individuals in Stockport.
They provide essential services such as food, clothing, mental health support, housing guidance, and employment advice.

The charity said there has been an 'alarming' upsurge in homelessness in Stockport, citing a 13 percent increase in the number of presentations between Q4 2022/23 and 2023/24.
"Homelessness has become a pressing issue in Stockport", a spokesperson said. "[It] speaks to the urgency of the situation.
"The sleepout event is more than just a fundraising event; it's an opportunity for participants to experience a small glimpse of the challenges faced by those without a home."
