Stockport has one of the lowest crime rates in Greater Manchester, new data reveals

Stockport has the second lowest crime rate in Greater Manchester, new Home Office data has revealed.
In a new ranking showing the highest crime rates across the UK, Stockport ranked 130th out of 313 for 'most dangerous', with a rate of 80.7 crimes per 1,000 people.
In all of Greater Manchester, only Trafford (ranked 157th) was found to have a lower rate, with 74.9 crimes per 1,000 people.
Manchester City Centre was the highest, placing at number five with a crime rate of 158.1 per 1,000 people.
Other local areas with a high crime rate were Oldham, Salford and Rochdale, which placed at 32nd, 37th, and 38th respectively.
Perhaps understandably, rural areas ranked lowest, with the Scilly Isles at 313.
At number one was Westminster, with a crime rate of around one in two people. The high level of tourism - and crime relating to it - was one explanation for such a high rate.
The Daily Express published an interactive map using the compiled data, which can be found here.
