By Dherran Titherington 13th Aug 2026
Pupils at Stockport Grammar School are celebrating their A Level results today (13 August), with 92% achieving grades A* to C.
The school has seen an increase in the proportion of pupils achieving A* to C grades, up from 86% in 2023. This year, 42% of pupils have achieved the highest grades of A* and A.
Students are now preparing to take their next steps, with destinations including University of Cambridge, University of Manchester, University of Liverpool and the Royal Northern College of Music.
Among those celebrating is Cara, who achieved three A*s and two As. She said she was "over the moon" to secure her place at the University of Cambridge, where she will study Human, Social and Political Sciences.
Other pupils have opted for apprenticeships and degree apprenticeships, combining further study with practical experience.
Deputy head of school Finn will begin a Nuclear Submarine Degree Apprenticeship with Rolls-Royce, combining university-level study with practical experience as he pursues a career in engineering - an area he has been interested in throughout his time at Stockport Grammar School.
Headteacher Sarah Capewell said: "Success looks different for every pupil, and I am so very proud to see this year's cohort moving confidently into futures that reflect their individual strengths, interests and ambitions.
"I look forward to seeing where life beyond SGS will take them."
