Stockport Council chief executive Caroline Simpson announced on social media today that the council will be running a cart at the upcoming Krazy Races soapbox event on Sunday 28 May.

The event willl see 40 teams of soapbox racers speed through the Stockport town centre powered merely by gravity, courage, and luck.

Hosted by Krazy Races and sponsored by Totally Stockport – Stockport's Business Improvement District – the event will be free to attend. The aim is to raise thousands for local charities, including the headline charity When You Wish Upon a Star. The audience is expected to comprise around 15,000 locals.

Ms Simpson announced: "So excited for the Totally Stockport Krazy Races to come to the town centre on 28 May!

"Keep the date in your diaries as we try to take top spot on the podium with our very own council cart!"

Paul Taylor, Totally Stockport's Manager, said on the Krazy Races website: "Town centre-based events have been attracting increasing numbers of visitors over the past few years.

"Krazy Races could be a record breaker for a one-day event."

Recently, Krazy Races also released the map for the event, which can be found on Twitter HERE.
