Stockport Council will stage a week-long virtual careers fair to showcase the borough's employment and education options from ages 16 and upwards.
In collaboration with Stockport Jobs Match (a jobs site for Stockport), the council will preside over a range of events including talks, Q&A sessions, and more.
The week will run from 9-13 October. Highlights include the 'What's next after GCSEs?' and 'What's next after college?' talks, which take place on Tuesday 10 October and Thursday 12 October respectively, running from 7-8.30pm.
The week comes at an interesting time for early careers; in Greater Manchester, for one, Mayor Andy Burnham is keen to encourage more young people to take a vocational pathway - as opposed to a 'conventional' academic pathway - to supply the burgeoning skills-based economy in Stockport and Manchester.
The ostensible aim of the week is: "To raise aspirations and inspire young people about the fantastic range of careers available in Stockport now and in the future, [...] with a range of resources for students, young people, parents and carers, teachers and careers advisors.
Cllr Wendy Meikle, cabinet member for children, families and education at Stockport Council, expressed her enthusiasm for the event: "Post-16 Careers Week is a fantastic opportunity for young people in Stockport to explore their future prospects and make informed decisions about their education and career pathways.
"We believe that by providing this platform, we can empower local students to pursue their dreams and contribute to the thriving Stockport community."
All events which take place during the virtual careers week are free. Find more information and reserve your spot at the events HERE. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/stockport-council-50064111693
