Stockport coffee specialists celebrate one year anniversary of business
By Alasdair Perry 20th Feb 2026
A Stockport start-up coffee business has celebrated its one year anniversary.
Vex Coffee was founded by Stockport resident Ross Jamieson and his Urmston-based friend John Bradshaw, with the aim of making speciality coffee more accessible for people across the UK.
The idea for the business was born after the pair realised that it was difficult to get good-quality coffee outside major cities without specialist knowledge.
Inspired, they decided to start a monthly subscription box service, sending subscribers two bags of speciality coffee per month, curated and sourced from independent roasters around the country.
John and Ross blind taste test the coffee themselves, and make sure they never send the same variety twice.
The beans come from over 18 coffee-producing countries, including Ethiopia, Colombia and Guatemala.
In only a year, Vex Coffee has sent out thousands of boxes of coffee, and has grown its subscriber base by 250 percent.

Both enterprising founders work full-time in the tech sector, running the coffee business in the evenings and at weekends.
Co-founder Ross said: "The UK has a strong coffee scene, but a lot of people are still drinking either supermarket blends, or the same coffee every month. We wanted to make it easier for people to discover great coffee without having to know where to look."
John added: Over the past year, we've seen steady growth in both subscribers and retention, and demand continues to outpace our expectations.
"This year, we're aiming to grow, while keeping the close-knit community feel that we enjoy and our members value.
"Keeping our members happy will always be our top priority, alongside building partnerships with more UK roasters."
Monthly subscription boxes start from £23.50 per month - find out more on the Vex Coffee website here.
