Stockport's annual beer and cider festival makes a welcome return to the Masonic Guildhall from tomorrow (Thursday 20 June).

The festival, run by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), will run until Saturday 22 June, and will feature more than 250 different beers, ciders and perries from around the world.

Like last year, visitors can also expect food and live entertainment throughout the event.

However, this year's beer festival will also see a few changes. This time around, there will be more seating - both indoors and outdoors - as well as better cooling and ventilation.

As far as the beer selection goes, visitors can expect some local brewers such as Runaway, Robinsons, and Made of Stone - along with other favourites from Greater Manchester, and elsewhere in the UK.

There will even be some exclusive beers making a debut at the festival; winners of the CAMRA Stockport Homebrewers Competition, for example, can be found on Bar Nouveau, whilst other breweries will be showcasing some brand new beers.

The festival starts on Thursday 20th at 5.30pm. It continues on Friday from noon, and likewise on Saturday. Bars close at 11pm on Thursday and Friday and 9.30pm on Saturday.

Admission on the door is £4, or £2 for CAMRA members. You can also buy an advance package for £16.50 (£15 for CAMRA members) which covers express entry, £10 worth of beer tokens and a refundable glass.

Jim Flynn, Festival Organiser, said "Once again, we are offering the largest variety of beers, ciders and perries in the area all under one roof, so there will be something to tickle everyone's taste buds.

"Our volunteer staff have a wide experience of the drinks available, and will be able to find something to your taste.

"There's entertainment, food and souvenirs available too, so please come along and see what we have to offer."

The festival will be in support of the Reuben's Retreat charity, which supports families who have lost children, or whose children are facing medical complexities.

Advance tickets and further information is available on the festival website.
