A doctor from Stepping Hill Hospital is taking on an impressive running challenge in support of the Stockport NHS Charity.

Dr Nidhi Kakkar is planning to take on a running challenge for every month of the year.

Having already run the Stockport Daffodil 10k in January, she's now set her sights on the Burj Khalifa Half Marathon for this February.

The funds raised will support Stockport NHS services such as Stepping Hill Hospital and other local facilities.

Recently the charity has supported newly-renovated rooms at the neo-natal unit, a therapy garden, and dementia-friendly blue crockery to help patients see their food better.

Nidhi has worked at Stepping Hill for over two years as a resident medical fellow doctor at the department of medicine for older people.

Further still, not only is Nidhi a busy doctor who also runs in her spare time, she's also a talented artist, selling her pictures to raise extra money for Stockport NHS Charity.

Nidhi began running as a part of her weight loss journey and she has shed an amazing 71 kgs (11 stone) in the process.

She is a veteran of numerous runs over the years, including full marathons, which also doubled up as massive fundraising efforts.

Stockport NHS Charity Manager Kate Leadbeater said ; "We are so grateful to Dr Nidhi Kakkar's amazing fundraising efforts, in both her running and her fantastic artwork she really has gone the extra mile.

"All the funds that go towards our charity will make a real difference for patients. If you have secured a place in a run or challenge in 2026 and would like to take this opportunity to make a real difference, we'd love to hear from you!"

If you'd like to support Nidhi, you can donate to her fundraiser here.
