A Stockport business specialising in dishes from Sri Lanka has picked up a prestigious culinary award.

The Little Sri Lankan, a food caterer, has been awarded a Gold medal at the International Salon de Culinaire Street Food Salon Competition.

Further still, they also picked up Best in Class and the People's Vote, in what amounts to high recognition from both industry judges and the public.

Michael and Malanie, the duo behind The Little Sri Lankan, described the wins as 'a huge honour'.

"As a small, independent business, everything we do is driven by our passion for authentic Sri Lankan flavours, and this recognition reinforces why we do what we do", they said.

"Our award-winning dish showcases our focus on bold, balanced flavours, quality ingredients, and traditional techniques - a true reflection of what we aim to bring to every plate.

"We would like to thank everyone who has supported us - from our customers and collaborators to our team behind the scenes."

The Little Sri Lankan provides catering at a range of events - from markets to private parties - and also hosts supper clubs; small gatherings where food-lovers can get together in an intimate setting and sample some of the delicious flavours of Sri Lanka.
