An Asian food market that was due to take place this evening (Friday 14 November) has been cancelled due to adverse weather.

The Eat Good West food market was due to take place in St Mary's Church in Market Place, featuring food stalls purveying cuisine from Japan, Korea, Thailand, China, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and more.

However, gusty wind and rain from Storm Claudia has meant the event can no longer go ahead.

Still, the good news is that the market returns on the second Friday of every month.

Next month's will be taking place on Friday 12 December from 5-10pm.

The organisers of the market said: "This month’s Eat Good West is sadly cancelled thanks to Storm Claudia… safety first!

"But don’t be sad! We’re coming back bigger, brighter, and more festive for our Christmas Edition on Friday 12 December.

"Get ready for your favourite Asian street food, festive treats, and all the good vibes you love. Can’t wait to celebrate the holidays with you!"

Each event features live Asian-inspired music performances, and gives visitors the chance to have a look around the 700-year-old St Mary's Church building itself.

Eat Good West has quickly made a name for itself as the only regular Asian food market in Stockport.

What started as a group of young adults looking for a place to make friends and share food has quickly snowballed into a hugely popular regular market which runs on every second Friday of the month.

Since its inception, the market has provided a platform for amazing local Asian cooks and small business owners to share their skills and dishes with this little corner of the Pennines.

As organiser Chris explained: "It's a place where you can eat, chat, and just connect with people from all walks of life...

"Where young adults are using their time, energy, and love for people to make Stockport feel a little warmer - one meal at a time!"
